DIY: Festive Tipsy Jello Mold + Jingle Bell Shoes

Tomorrow we're having our Holiday Party at work...and the theme is "tacky"...YAY! I seriously love a good tacky Christmas party...and lucky for me...I'm on the committee. So...tonight I'm sharing with you a few simple festive little things that might add that extra little bit of tackiness to your holiday party {if you're feeling a little old school...like we are!}

First...the essential jello mold...with a twist!

I've got to admit...until yesterday...I had never attempted to make a jello mold. {and...it was actually easier than I thought it would be!}

Festive Tipsy Jello Mold
What you'll need:
3 packs of lime jello mix {prepare according to instructions...for mine...I just had to add hot and cold water}
1/2 cup pomegranate liquor

Prepare jello according to instructions and pour into jello mold container. Chill over night. The next day, place jello mold onto serving dish with some sort of lip around edge. {at least 1/2" high...I used a glass pie dish} After jello mold is in position, poke holes into the top of mold. Pour 1/2 cup pomegranate liquor into holes and into center of dish. Cover and place in the refrigerator. Let chill overnight. {this will allow the liquor to absorb into the jello mold...if there is excess and you want to remove before serving, use a baster or paper towel to remove excess liquid} Serve cold.

It's red, green, fun, festive, tasty and yes...tacky in an awesome kind of way! I hope that my co-workers get a kick out of it!

Now...moving onto wardrobe...

So...you can't have a tacky party without a contest for a tacky outfit...right? Last year...I didn't really bring it, {garland and a sweater with sequins that I wear on a regular basis...yep...kind of lame} so this year...I actually decide to spent some time on my outfit! {yep...that's what was going down saturday and sunday and the main reason that I didn't blog...details to come tomorrow...} With this in mind, I decided that I needed to do something fun with shoes. {since I'm a bit of a
shoe addict}

This project is super easy...way festive and inexpensive!

Jingle Bell Shoes
What you'll need:
a fun pair of flat shoes {preferably with a bow or some kind of embellishment on the toes}
ribbon
twine
jingle bells {the dollar tree is a fantastic resource!}

First, loop length of ribbon around embellishment on shoe {or through bow if you have one} and tie a knot. Cut a length of twine and thread jingle bells onto it. Tie a knot, then a loop and tie to ribbon. {you can do this with large or small bells...I used one large one and three small ones per shoe} When you're finished adding bells, tie ribbon and twine securely in a double knot. Tie remaining ribbon into bow and then trim. Your finished product might look something like this:

Fun, festive and a little sassy! I have a feeling I'm going to feel like an elf all day tomorrow and sound like a reindeer when I walk down the hall. {and...I think it'll be so much fun!}

Hope that these little projects give you a little inspiration for getting jiggy if you have a holiday party with a tacky theme coming up...and if you don't...now you have a little ammunition to throw one of your own! Have a great night...and don't be afraid to be festive!
